Department Profile:

The Department of Sanskrit is one of the oldest in the Hooghly Women's College. It started its journey in 1951. The Department offers courses both in Honours and Pass. For the development of the students the Department provides books from Seminar Library and the Central Library as well. Both Libraries contain enriched books in this subjects. The Department ensures teaching -- learning in accordance with New Education Policy.

There are four faculty members in the Department. They share students interdisciplinary relevance of Sanskrit. The Department intends to organize remedial classes and Faculty Exchange Programmes to improve the quality of the students. All members of the Faculty are actively engaged in research which has resulted in the articles in Sanskrit in National journals.
